Can I live here?

Recently, one of our carpenters here at NEDC sent around an email about a product that he spotted in another blog that he reads. He couldn’t remember which blog it was, but definitely remembered the product enough to pass it on. His direct words were “It’s sex on the floor”.

Finding this comment intriguing enough to do a little digging, we found out that this product really is quite stunning in a way rarely seen in the United States. With good reason! After exchanging an e-mail with the CEO of Bolefloor about posting their pictures, we discovered that Bolefloor is not terribly established in the US yet… but it will be. The company seems to be running rampant around Europe. With flooring this beautiful I see Bolefloor going very far indeed. You saw it here first!

How stunning are these non-straight lines!

Their tagline on the website states “Life is not a straight line” which rings very true, and is illustrated in the luxurious lengths of the planks used in this natural flooring. Five species of wood are available: oak, ash, maple, cherry, and walnut. The boards run approximately 120” in length and vary in width in the most delightful manner from roughly 6-12” throughout. I haven’t seen any flooring like this able to be specified without a very caring craftsman with a lot of free time before this.

The feel of this photograph just transports me; I’m in love with it!

The wood is available as solid hardwood or an engineered wood for places where the temperature and humidity might be a bit more variable. You can order it unfinished and apply your own vision, get it oiled, or brushed for a more vintage appeal. With the ordinary tongue and groove installation method, your carpenter can actually install it within a reasonable amount of time. Different grades of wood let you choose the appearance of sapwood and dark knots (or lack thereof). Each and every floor installed in totally unique.

We are looking forward to taking on a project where the client is as excited as we are to specify it. You better bet you will see pictures of it in upcoming project profiles!
