20150122_092734We are pleased to introduce Jennings Blanc, who formally joined the company in February as our Draftsman. Jennings will be bolstering the Design department at NEDC, producing construction drawings with Lead Designer Brad Cashin and Assistant Designer Bridget Harriss. He is currently pursuing a degree at Boston Architectural College, and we look forward to his growth within our company.

Where are you from and how did you get here?
I’m originally from Massachusetts- I grew up in Dorchester. My parents and family are originally from Haiti. They came into the country in the early 80s. I am proud to represent the first-generation Americans in my family.

How would you define your professional style?
I would describe my professional style as competitive but friendly, persistent/ consistent(with exceptions to improvement), hard working, and honest.

Who or what is your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspiration is my parents, for the reason that they endured many challenges in life. They have provided a foundation for me and my children to continuing building on.

What is your design philosophy?
My design philosophy is to understand the context of the site/space you will design for, and try every possible solution through iterations.

What is the last place you saw that made you think, “I wish I’d done that!”?
This experience always stuck with me: when I was 6 years old, I was in Haiti and witnessed one of their storm water canals along the street. It worked poorly and was unsanitary. I wish I could have done it or do it now. I would improve the system for the sake of the environment and people within the communities that depend on it.

What does value mean for you?
Value is the self-worth of a person or object. High self-worth is important; outstanding even better.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
“Smile. Everyone likes a great smile.” and “Be a risk taker, you have nothing to lose but the opportunity itself.” At my current stage, those are the most effective for me.

Tell me about what your life will look like in 10 years:
I can’t be certain about life in 10 yrs, but I am looking forward to handling more responsibilities with NEDC and become a valuable player for the time.

What’s your spirit animal?
I’m not sure what my spirit animal is, but if I can choose for myself it would be a lion.
