CotY Gold Award Sized

Local Remodeler Catches Top Honor

The Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (EM NARI) awarded NEDC in Boston, MA the Gold 2015 EM NARI Contractor of the Year (CotY) Award in the category of Best Bathroom $30,000 – 60,000.

NEDC was presented the CotY Award at EM NARI’s Evening of Excellence event on Wednesday, March 4th at the Clarke Showroom in Milford, MA. This year, there were 24 CotY’s awarded across fourteen categories. A panel of four independent reviewers judged all the project entries in a blind evaluation. Projects were judged on a 70 point scale with points awarded for how well the project met the client’s needs and enhanced the functionality and aesthetics of the space, innovative uses of materials and methods, the ability to overcome obstacles creatively, the craftsmanship displayed in the work, and the presentation of the project.

NEDC is a member of EM NARI, a non-profit membership association dedicated to advancing quality in the professional remodeling industry. Comprised of nearly 200 local companies representing nearly 1,000 area professionals, EM NARI is a recognized source for information about residential remodeling and local professionals. This project was to remodel and upgrade a full bath that was used as the “Kid’s Bathroom” within the home. The family has three children that all use the same bathroom, direly in need of an upgrade.

It was important to create a space that was flexible for the different needs of the three different children using the space. The client envisioned a modern stylistic approach with lighter walls and a dark vanity. They wanted two sinks, and a spot for the laundry basket to live.

Our company created a stunning second bathroom that features a separate tub and shower area. The shower enclosure only features two walls, leaving the third wall open to the bath area, with a knee wall between. The extra-long vanity top pierces the shower wall, creating a small shelf on the interior of the shower to perch soap and shampoo upon.

The extra-large mirror provides ample reflection space for the children to use simultaneously while the faucets are capable of swiveling to the right and the left to provide enhanced flexibility when all four are rushing to get ready for school in the morning.

Additionally, a super-sized towel bar helps eliminate dirty wet towels all over the floor, providing ample storage for the enhanced use of the bathroom.

Not featured in the photography is a custom-built storage solution (seen in architectural plan and elevation) providing a pull-out laundry basket for an out-of-sight laundry in ebonized wood.

Best endorsement ever from the client: “We love the bathrooms. We gather there as a family. Never expected that.” (Our company completed their master bath as well)
