Project Manager

The Project Manager is in the Construction Department and is responsible for the execution of select construction projects (2-4 projects with total of 600K in volume at a time) for the company.

There are many details to how this job is performed – here is a summary of the key functions:

The first step is to become familiar with the planning from our Designers and the budget for the project, and getting any questions or details ironed out before starting.  The PM would then carry out the planning in a way that controls the cost and schedule while delivering an excellent renovation for the client.  The PM is the point of contact for the client on all matters relating to the project.  The PM oversees all the trade contractors and carpenters on site as well as all the materials for the job.  Learning and using company policy and procedures is key to success, and the PM will be trained in our process and will have team support and guidance and will be expected to relay information about the project regularly to the Construction Manager and others who may need it.  The Project Manager guides the construction process from start to finish and must have good communication skills and a willingness to solve problems, while maintaining an excellent relationship with the client as well as our carpenters and subcontractors.

Ultimately it is the Project Manager’s responsibility to pull off the project successfully, with a high-quality result and thrilled clients while ensuring a good profit for the company.




The Carpenter is in the Construction Department and is responsible for the execution of carpentry on mid to high-end residential remodeling projects.  The Carpenter works directly with a Project Manager who oversees and assigns tasks, working on 2-4 projects at a time as a team.

Here is a brief summary of the functions of the Carpenter:

A Carpenter must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications and be able to perform all carpentry labor as needed, frame to finish.  Although much of NEDC’s work is done by sub-contractors, the NEDC Carpenter is responsible for filling in on any carpentry and project task that may be required to get the job done, while specializing on the high-end finish carpentry that NEDC is known for.  He works closely with the Project Manager to keep the job on schedule without sacrificing quality.  The carpenter must be skilled in problem-solving and able to evaluate alternate methods of construction for cost efficiency and improved quality.  Willingness to learn and improve skills is supported by policy for continuing education.

For any carpenter, the goal is to eventually grow into a Project Manager role within the structure of the company, progressively taking on more and more responsibility as their skill set grows.  The company provides training on all policy and procedures to be able to work well as a member of the team and expects that all teammates contribute to the success of the company by excellent coordination and superior work standards.  Customer Satisfaction Surveys are administered at key points during the project and will be used as a measure of success for the Project Manager / Carpenter Team.
