PROJECT MANAGER

New England Design & Construction is looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to join our growing team. This position is responsible for overseeing 2-4 high-end residential remodeling projects and will be managing subcontractors as well as a team carpenter.

The job of the Project Manager is to execute high-quality construction projects that are completed on time and budget, all while maintaining the quality of life of our clients.

Some of the skills required for the job are:

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications
  • Familiarity with materials and methods utilized in residential construction, with at least 5 years of construction field experience
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to follow a successful system
  • Professional attitude with a desire to deliver a high-quality result
  • Ability to manage clients, subcontractors, carpenters and vendors
  • Ability to manage a budget and time schedule commitments
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record and own vehicle
  • Literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and Project Management applications

CARPENTER

The Carpenter is responsible for the execution of carpentry on high-end residential remodeling projects. The Carpenter works directly with a Project Manager who oversees and assigns tasks, working on 2-4 projects at a time as a team.

Some of the skills required for the job are:

  • Able to read and interpret plans and specifications
  • Able to perform all carpentry labor as needed, frame to finish.
  • Skilled in high-end finish carpentry
  • Skilled in problem-solving
  • Able to evaluate alternate methods of construction for cost efficiency and improved quality.
  • Willingness to learn and improve skills
  • Willingness to work closely with the Project Manager to keep the job on schedule without sacrificing quality.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Must have own vehicle and tools

Although much of NEDC’s work is done by sub-contractors, the NEDC Carpenter is responsible for filling in on any carpentry and project task that may be required to get the job done, while specializing on the high-end finish carpentry that NEDC is known for.

As with all NEDC positions, excellent customer service is a priority, with the goal to have clients who are thrilled with our work and who refer their friends. The Carpenter is the face of the company in the client’s home throughout the project, and needs to be friendly, considerate and effective in communication.

DESIGNERS

Have you always been interested in the unified approach of the Design – Build process? Our clients are diverse and each project offers unique design problem solving opportunities. Our integrated team of designers, estimators and construction specialists work together to reach the highest and best result for each client.  The job of the Designer is to “Lift Sprits with Spaces” by developing a buildable design through complete planning and fulfilling the client’s vision of how their space will best serve their needs.

We are continually searching for top talent at all levels of Design – so a candidate who is a good fit for our company would be placed based on their skill level and relative ability to independently manage a full design project.  Mentorship is provided by our Design Director and in-house Licensed Architect to keep a talented Designer moving upward in their skills and experience.

Some of the skills required for the job are:

  • Excellent design aesthetic with creative solutions to space challenges
  • Proficient in the use of Auto-CAD, SketchUp; familiarity with Revit a plus
  • Familiarity with materials and methods utilized in residential construction,
  • Some wood frame construction and residential remodeling experience
  • Experience in selections, modeling, documentation and detailing knowledge
  • Client management experience, with excellent communication and inter-personal relationship skills
  • Open to learning and willing to train to improve and increase performance skills
  • MS Office Suite and familiarity with SharePoint and Office 365 preferred
  • Able to work well in a team setting and willing to collaborate and follow a successful system
  • Must be a self-starter and willing to take full responsibility for creating a positive client experience that meets and exceeds expectations
