Hello!

My name is David Supple and I’m the founder and president of New England Design & Construction (NEDC).

At NEDC we are Architects who Build.

We specialize in large-scale renovations, whole-home remodels and we also do a large amount of new construction in the way of home additions.

Our clients have a love for this Earth as we do, and our mission is to lift Spirits with Spaces.  You want a space that’s going to enhance your life and that of your family on a day-to-day basis–but where do you start?

Do you start with the architect who you saw in a magazine?

Do you start with the remodeler whose job sign you saw in your neighbor’s yard?

Do you start with the interior designer whose portfolio you like?

Or do you start with the builder who a friend recommended?

It can be confusing!

When the project is complete that’s all you see–but the truth is, we all have pretty pictures.  You need to look at what it took to get to that point–what was the actual experience?

It’s the things you don’t see that make the difference: the surprises, the cost overruns, the change orders, the schedule delays–you don’t see those things necessarily, but you as the client experience them.

The most common but unseen source of all those issues is the disconnect or separation of all those professionals that are needed to create for you a successful project.

This is an artificial fracture and separation of the roles of Design and Build that unfortunately is often today presented as commonplace.  Throughout history the Architect and Builder have been one.

This artificially fractured arrangement is presented to you (the client) as the status quo—as if you need a separate architect, interior designer and builder to execute your project.

However– when these professionals are separated and there’s no single source of accountability–any issue that does arise falls back on you as the client and homeowner.

Our integrated design build process ensures you get exactly the right project the first time–simply and without all the complexities.  While we’re designing, when we are presenting different iterations or options, cost is part of the decision-making process in order to help enable you to make informed decisions.

The industry average in terms of change orders is that over 20 percent increase in costs after construction starts and that is a direct result of this division (of the architect, designer, builder and trades) resulting in an unnatural separation and lack of accountability.

Conversely our change order rate historically is under two percent–it’s just a much simpler process and experience for our clients.

At NEDC we are ushering in a new era of excellence in the design and construction experience

Our integrated approach ensures you get exactly the right project the first time simply and without all the complexities.

Combined we have over 350 years of experience here at NEDC.

So, who do you start with?  Architect, Designer, Builder?

You start with all of them!

You start with us.

We are Architects who Build.  Lifting Spirits with Spaces across Boston since 2005!

So, if you want a space that improves your life and an experience to get there that is positive as possible reach out to us!

WHAT NEDC CLIENTS ARE SAYING:

Cambridge Whole Home Gut Remodel:

“FIVE STARS

NEDC did a gut renovation of our house. The process with them was amazing from start to finish. From our first meeting with the president, Dave Supple, who inspected all corners of house and talked about our goals, to the wrap-up of the punch list with the project manager and lead designer, everything went exceedingly well.

The process began with a series of broad design options and price ranges, then settled to one primary design during which we refined all the details and finalize the budget; then we moved onto all the material, appliance and finish selections, which is also done hand-in-hand with NEDC’s designers.

Once construction began, we had a weekly meeting with the project manager to discuss what had been done the prior week and what was coming. This allowed for timely course correction. The project was completed on time – maybe even a bit ahead of schedule, I don’t remember, despite some COVID permitting setbacks – and at the budget that was set at the end of the design process.

We were very happy with NEDC.”

“What stands out in my mind about NEDC is the reliability of the workmanship… and I have great faith in follow-up as well.   I mean the follow-up has been fantastic!

The quality of work that NEDC does is exceptional–proof of that is that we started with a deck outside and when we needed bathroom renovations we asked David (Supple, CEO of NEDC) back.  In addition to that he also redesigned the front of our house–so he has done work for us on three different occasions.  If we ever had to do anything again we’ll definitely ask them back for the fourth time!

I wouldn’t actually trust anybody else with my house…!”
