A Chestnut Hill Client’s Review of David Supple & NEDC

There are Chestnut Hill homeowners who are searching for the best architect and contractor in Boston for their personal home remodel.  We understand this.  We have multiple clients in Chestnut Hill, MA and it is truly a unique and beautiful area in which we love to design and build.

These are words from one of our truly lovely Chestnut Hill Clients for whom we’ve now done four projects:

“What stands out in my mind about NEDC is the reliability of the workmanship… and I have great faith in follow-up as well.   I mean the follow-up has been fantastic!

The quality of work that NEDC does is exceptional–proof of that is that we started with a deck outside and when we needed bathroom renovations we asked David (Supple, CEO of NEDC) back.  In addition to that he also redesigned the front of our house–so he has done work for us on three different occasions.  If we ever had to do anything again we’ll definitely ask them back for the fourth time!

I wouldn’t actually trust anybody else with my house!

We liked the house when we bought it but now we really love it!

We feel like this is our home and it has basically nothing we don’t like about it anymore.  Every project that David has done has contributed to making us love the house even more.

We had issues with storage, we had issues with lights, we had issues with the general flow of the house and simply presentability (outdoor looks or curb appeal) that were less than optimal when we purchased it.

Every single project David has done we can’t imagine the house without it.

David lifts spirits with spaces because he has a unique ability to see where there’s room for improvement and he has a vision how it can be improved to make it more useful and simply make you happy to walk into the space

He likes to work with light; he likes to work with natural materials, and his vision to improve a space to make it more livable is simple–it’s very unique.

I’m walking into my bathroom every morning and I’m very happy

It’s bright; it’s light; it’s got a skylight–there’s so many people who we’ve asked to put a skylight in the bathroom and they all turned us down and said it’s impossible.

David said ‘yes you need more light and we can absolutely do that there’s absolutely no problem.’

So I’m happy when I walk into my bathroom–I’m happy when I look out my backyard because I can see it it’s got all these extra windows–it’s fantastic.

I’m even happy when I drive up to my house because it’s pretty!

The advantage of having a Design Build firm versus having an architect or designer and a separate contractor is whatever is being designed is built as it was envisioned.

There’s going to be no shortcuts, there’s going to be no conflicts, there’s no contractor who comes in and says ‘I can’t do this.’

You can be absolutely certain that whatever you had envisioned will at the end be there, and in addition to that the construction process is very smooth because everybody works hand in hand.  There’s no schedules to worry about, and in my experience it’s actually a lot faster than having somebody design it and then bringing in separate people who are trying to fit all the different ideas together.

[NEDC] delivered what they promised and more.

What we envisioned is not necessarily easy to build.

We like new ideas–new designs.

On several occasions David had to go back and really try to figure out how he’s going to build what we want–an example is the wood floor in the bathroom. There’s no template for having a mahogany floor in a shower, and there were a couple of iterations to make it finally work–but he did it so he had to really be innovative in order to build what we would like to see.

The collaboration process with NEDC is really extraordinary.

David makes sure that he fully understands what you’re looking for and will make sure that you’re completely happy with the designs they provide before they even start building.

He will never push you into cutting corners and I’ve never heard him say ‘this cannot be done.’

His communication style is really unusual–he’s very very transparent and very hands-on.

 It’s a very unusual company.

The design and build process is smooth–it’s seamless it’s as far as construction goes.  It’s about as pain-free as it gets.

At the end of the project you can be 100 certain that you’re happy with what they’ve createdthere’s absolutely no doubt, and I would never work with anybody else.
