A Blend of Tradition and Modern Design
This stunning renovation project, featured in Modern Luxury Interiors Boston, showcases the transformation of a Cape-style home into a modern haven, blending both traditional charm and contemporary flair. The homeowners originally sought a modest renovation, but the unique potential of the property quickly led to a more ambitious vision.
New England Design & Construction served as both architect and builder on the project, collaborating closely with interior designer Kate Maloney-Albiani to create a home that reflected the couple’s shared aesthetic and modern lifestyle. The design-build process led to the creation of remarkable spaces, including a lofted library with panoramic views, a whimsical lounge above a mini bar, and a custom saltwater pool that serves as the focal point of the outdoor living area.

NEDC’s team, led by senior designer Joe Wood, reimagined the home’s main entryway, crafting a grand entrance that seamlessly blends into the lush, wooded landscape surrounding the property. Natural materials such as exposed wood, stone, and metal were used throughout the interior to further enhance the connection between the home and its environment. The color palette of warm walnut, honey oak, soft taupe, and olive green with rust and amber accents ties the spaces together, emphasizing the couple’s love for nature.
This Wayland residence is a perfect representation of thoughtful design, high functionality, and seamless collaboration between architect, builder, and interior designer, resulting in a home that is not only a sanctuary but also a lasting testament to the couple’s shared future.
