Higher Grounds

Hill CraftsMen LLC has just completed an extensive top floor remodel in Cambridge, which resulted in doubling the living space for a young family of four.  The family is excited every time they walk up their new wrap around stairs to the transformed space.

The floor was previously not being used due to its unfinished condition, although it was always planned to be remodeled.

As we are doing more and more often for each project we design, many “green” features were used, including the use of energy efficient insulation made from reclaimed materials, wood from responsibly managed forests, and 5 energy star skylights.

The scope of the work entailed deconstructing the entire floor and then

building out a floor plan that included, most notably; 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a living room and walk-in closet.  A narrow stairway leading up to the floor was enlarged and moved in order to accommodate a better flow through the home and also allowed for a mud room on the lower floor.  A washer & dryer unit were installed on the top floor as well to make the space more functional.

What was once an uninhabitable space is now totally unrecognizable from its original state.  The design team succeeded in its task of opening up the floor plan and visually increasing the height of the rooms and our clients are now thrilled to be able to enjoy their new home.

Do it Right – Do it Safe!

Recently, 3 members of Hill CraftsMen LLC completed an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training course and were acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Labor for this accomplishment.  The course gave its participants knowledge in prevention and elimination of work-related illnesses and injuries specific to the remodeling industry.

Besides completing a project on time and schedule, Hill CraftsMen LLC is dedicated to ensuring every job is completed accident free, both to those working on the project and the people and environment around it.
