Custom Built-In and Storage Remodel Projects in the Boston Area
Basement Remodel
This basement remodel project provides a great example of how a well designed storage system can uplift a space. In addition to the featured storage under the stairs, this remodel also included a new living space, exercise area, and kids playroom. As part of this project, we also reconfigured the rear entry with a stunning staircase and mud-room area, creating a seamless transition between the main living floor and basement area.

Custom Mudroom Bench and Stairs
This built-in was created as part of a two story addition and whole home remodel that turned a dark, cramped single family home into a large, light-filled, modern space. Here you can see the rear entry mudroom, which features a built-in bench with hangers and cubbies for easy storage. What is most unique about this piece, is that it was actually built from reclaimed cedar planks that were previously used in a closet elsewhere in the home. We also up-cycled a clerestory window for use above the built-in.
To the right, you’ll see the stairs leading into the main living space from the mudroom. We used metal treads to add grip and further weather-proof the space, for those harsh Boston winters!

Built-In Bench & Storage
This built-in bench and storage station was created as part of a larger remodeling project that included opening up the homeowners first floor to create a larger living space.
The project not only provided a solution to the constant clutter of kids toys around the living area, but also created a nice point-of-entry space for the home, where the family could store shoes and other outerwear. Additionality, it’s centralized placement divides and adds visual texture to the open living space in their new first floor environment.

Wraparound Bench and Under-Stair Storage
This wraparound bench and pull-out under-stair storage solution was one part of a large two-story addition that created a stunning entryway and beautiful gateway to the rest of this Somerville home.
This project also included four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a master suite. Not only did this addition increase the square footage and livable space in the home, but also increased the overall property value.
