There are some truly beautifully executed Easter Egg pictures floating around Pinterest and Instagram featuring eggs with gold accents. This particular DIY took a little bit of time to find a gold that actually sticks to the eggs and appears gold, and not green, or see-through.

How to create your very own gold-dipped or decorated eggs.

1.) Hard-boil or blow out your eggs

2.) Dye your eggs any color you like. I suggest sticking to an analogous or monochromatic color scheme, and accenting them with the gold. Ombre eggs work well for this.

3.) Use an appropriate gold paint-pen to decorate the eggs to your desire. Pro Tip: gold sharpies do not work. They don’t look gold. My normal “go-to” Martha Stewart Craft paint also wasn’t stellar- it was too transparent. I tried a couple of different types of gold “paint pens” – this was my favorite one that was able to paint on top of the egg without smudging the dye or loosing the gold quality of the paint:

Next, work on your presentation and how you wish to display the eggs! You will note that my eggs are a little bit speckled… I attribute this to putting the eggs to dye before the tablet was done dissolving (I had an overeager five year old helping me that did not wish to wait!).
